Notes: Coordinated logistics to plan an event in Hampton, VA with the venue, the other artists, and the City of Hampton. Managed an online “street team” to promote the event through social networks and music-related discussion forums, and wrote the event press release below.

BALTIMORE, MD – Friday, March 6 will bring madness to the streets of Hampton, VA as fans from all over the U.S. gather for the much-anticipated return of Phish at the Hampton Coliseum. As Phish-goers swim out of the chaos, Basshound, J.Wail, and DJ Bowie will be ready to funk it up only a half mile away with their dance-infused line up, serious light rig, live art, food and drinks at the Cinema Cafe (1044 Von Schilling Dr)

Asheville’s DJ Bowie (Shkr Fam) will kick off the night at 12:00 am with live drums and digital sounds that span the spectrum of sonic style. Bowie brought the house down at Trinumeral, Bonnaroo, The Echo Project, and One World International, and has earned best DJ/Turntablist at WNC two years running.

Fans of Baltimore’s Basshound know what to expect next: gawk-worthy talent, carefully crafted tunes, and electro-funk grooves keep eyes wide, heartbeats high, and feet bouncing and sliding on the dance floor. A killer set at All Good Festival in Summer 2008 shot Basshound into the limelight. Since then, they’ve toured cross-country, gathered a devoted following, and claimed an original sound that blends dirty funk with bluegrass, jazz, and even metal. Get ready!

National touring sensation J.Wail will end the night right with his own style of live-club-funk. His digital wizardry takes the one-man-band concept to a new level, as guitar, bass, vocals, and synthesizers are mixed and mashed using live electronics. With 450+ shows in the last three years, J.Wail is one of the biggest up and coming acts on the scene. J.Wail’s talents have gained him stage time with Michael Travis and Jason Hahn (EOTO/String Cheese Incident), Bassnectar, Dean Ween (Ween), Brock Butler (Perpetual Groove), Ekoostik Hookah, Tom Constanten (Rock N’ Roll Hall of Fame, ex member of the Grateful Dead), and members of the Brazilian Girls.

Crazyredbeard (Jon Blake) rounds out the cast, painting live art throughout the evening. Described by fans as “Dali and a graffiti artist in a blender,” Crazyredbeard will certainly add to the festivities of the evening.

Party from 12am-5am for $15 in advance or $20 at the door. The bar will be open until 2:00 am and food will be sold until close.
